PARALYMPICS 2012 OUR CLUB PROJECT TO SERVE THE LOCAL COMMUNITY This page gives some background information about the
club's project Paralympics 2012
For progress update, Click Here. WHY? To engage people with disabilities into the
opportunities for sport. To promote volunteering as a worthy service to the community and encourage new volunteers and young people to take their first steps into volunteering. WHO?
The Young People of Dacorum.
· We will engage schools. We have already established relationships with schools for our projects such as the Technology Tournament, Young Chef, Essay Competition and Youth Speaks. We will meet Senior staff and invite them and their students to respond – our experience tells us they will! HOW... ·
...will we get tickets? - Via the ticketing programme for schools which will offset some of the costs. We will seek sponsorship and purchase when necessary. We will use established relations with the British Paralympics Community. · ...will we manage the Project? – By a series of small management groups comprising Rotarians, School Members, people with disability, and other volunteers. · ...will we recruit volunteers? – We will approach Schools and their children, other Rotary Clubs, the disabled community, other volunteers and the Volunteering England Games Inspired website. · ...will we obtain Sponsorship? – We already have financial support from the Dacorum Cultural Olympiad. Based on expert advice, we consider this be a very newsworthy opportunity. We will engage Local Media as Project Partners. We will reach out to Local Businesses through existing relationships. We will involve local members of the Paralympics Community.
